📜 Historical Background
- Origin of the Name: In the past, Kottappara, located on the border of the Thekkumkoor and Vadakkumkoor kingdoms, was part of this area. The name 'Varappetty' originated from the fact that a box (petty) was kept here to collect and store weekly taxes (varam)
- Ancient Administration: The area south of the Aluva River was under the rule of the Kingdom of Travancore.
🏛️ Formation of the Panchayat
- Year Established: Varappetty Grama Panchayat officially started operating in 1953 as part of Muvattupuzha Taluk.
Initial Act/Law: Early administration was carried out under the Thiru-Cochin Panchayat Act.
First Governing Body:
